R WE OK? R U OK? Yep we did it again. In this episode of the Bean There? Podcast we sat front and centre at Bianchini's , Cronulla. An Italian styled cafe looking over the sands of Elouera Beach. Coffee was great but the guests were better and the conversation got deep.
Part 1
We were so grateful to have Grant Bomber Barker share his story of kick boxing and the ever lasting struggle with self doubt. He was open and honest, reflecting on his upbringing and beliefs of what it means to 'be a man' today and the one and only time he ever felt confident he was going to win. As the owner of Strong Arm Boxing 'Bomber spoke to Junior Sports Reporter Dylan about what it takes to be a 2 x world champion kick boxer. At 57 he still trains twice a day x 5 times a week and is an advocate for mens mental health.
Dianna 'Porkey' McKay, former Police Officer in child protection investigation, shared her challenges in a male dominated job when mental health was never spoken about. Porkey is that person who is 'glass half full, optimistic and positive but knows the reality of life'. As the educator of Elouera SLSC is committed to protecting children and educates our young surfing community about life skills, community and being there for one another - vowing that whilst ever there is a threat to our children's safety it won't happen on her watch. - love this chick.
Part 2
Mostapha from RUOK drops in to share the importance of the conversation after asking the question RUOK? and how the brand has created a safe space for people to share their struggle without judgement.
Nat from To Day List came into the discussion with a great philosophy and strategy for reducing overwhelm.

Keith knows more than anyone what it’s like to run towards trouble. During his time as an undercover police officer, he dealt with some of Australia’s most violent criminals, drug lords and crooked cops. He is also one of the most highly decorated police officers to have ever come out of the Qld police force and has dealt with his fair share of trauma - his own and other people’s - resulting in undiagnosed PTSD.
Keith shares some of the stories from his career, as well as the ways he came to terms with those incidents, the power of martial arts, the healing power of the writing process and the moment he finally forgave himself.
